# How To Setup an LTI Assignment

## Create a new assignment

## Select "External tool" for the Submission Type

## Select the launch URL for the LTI app

The URL will be something like <https://grades.firstdraft.com/launch>

Can't find launch URL? Make sure the LTI app has been [added to the Canvas](https://teachersmanual.firstdraft.com/setting-up-canvas).

Select "Load in new tab" as well.

## Configure the rest of the Canvas Settings

* Add a name
* Add a description
* Add total points
* Add due date
* Add available from (if applicable)
* Assign to a specific assignment group (if applicable)
* Assign to a specific section (if applicable)

Save assignment details when finished.

## Launch the LTI assignment

Now launch the assignment.

## Configure LTI specific assignment settings

Each LTI tool will have it's own unique settings to configure:

* Grades
* Ruby Gym
* Checkins
* Learn
