## Pull Off Hard Drive

* Take recording from hard drive to your own computer
* Open in ScreenFlow

## Rendering Videos

* Open Recording in Screenflow

### Select webcam feed

* Click on Video in the window in the center 
* Drag to the bottom right corner
* Size this video so the bottom length close to 1/4 of the total video length
* Use best judgement for sizing this, it should not be obtrusive 
* Click audio properties tab in the top right corner, it is the small audio symbol
* Play the video and listen to audio
* Adjust sound either up or down so audio can be heard at a comfortable level when your computer output is at 1/4 volume

### Select all

* I usually start recording 5-10 minutes before class so I don't forget to start it. So first we need to cut out that time.
* Space bar will play/pause.
* When you find a place that you want to split the video, Edit > Split Clips — or I always use the "T" keyboard shortcut.
* Then, delete the part you don't want.
* Then slide the remainder to the left.
* Then, insert a gap of 4-5 seconds if it makes sense. Zoom the timeline in to make it easier to add such a small gap.
* Save the file.
* File > Export
* Encoding > Normal
* Chose a resolution based on your hardware capablity
  * Select Resolution > 1920 x 1080
  * If this render is more than 2 hours, cancel and choose 1280 > 720     
* Letterbox content

## Vimeo

* Upload
* General Settings:
  * Hide this video from Vimeo.com
  * Where can this be embedded? Specific domains
  * uchicago.edu, mindstamp.io
  * Who can comment? No one
  * No one can download
  * No one can add to collections
  * Save
* Embed Settings:
  * Class Recording preset
* After the video has processed, choose a good thumbnail.
* Go to the Distribution tab 
  * Scroll to the bottom and Copy Link for HTTP live streaming

## Mindstamp

### Class Recoding

* Click "+ New" in navbar
* Paste Vimeo link
  * Go to video on Vimeo
  * Unfold "Distribution" in sidebar
  * Select "Video file links"
  * Scroll to bottom and click "Copy link" next to "HTTP live streaming"
  * Paste that back over in Mindstamp
* Update Video Title
* Uncheck "Show Share Message Before Video"
* Uncheck "Show my branding" (we should add branding and keep this checked?)
* Privacy: "Anybody with link can access"
* Group: "No Group Selected"
* Participation: "Allow viewers to add notes..."
* Visibility: in general,
  * If we plan to add annotations, select "Presentation".
  * If we don't, select "Collaboration".
  * But use judgement based on the content.
* Layers & Seekbar:
  * Check "Show Ingteractio Markers..."
  * Check "Show Extra Navigation..."
  * Play around with where to place text notes and choose best option; usually at the bottom.
* Uncheck all "capture viewer info".
* No custom thumbnail.
* Save
* Click Publish
* Click Share
* Click "Copy Inline Embed Code"

  **Instructional Video**
* All will be exactly the same as above but change Visibilty.
* Visibility: Presentation

  **Canvas**
* Pages
* View All Pages
* \+ Page
* Add title
* Switch to HTML editor
* Paste embed code from Mindstamp.io
* Save and **publish**
* Edit homepage by adding link to video page from pages dropdown
